El lunes a primera hora pasé a buscar a Tim por un bar cerca de La Sagrada Familia en Barcelona y una hora y media más tarde ya nos encontrábamos estacionando el coche en el parking del sector El Duc, en Arbolí.
Tim es un escalador con experiencia. Escala hace muchos años y contaba con 5 días para escalar en la zona. El principal motivo de su viaje era el de escalar en esta región tan conocida mundialmente. Así es que luego de una buena entrada en calor pasamos a escalar algunas vías un poco más difíciles y que tal como imaginé, no supusieron ningún problema para él. Nuestro primer día de escalada llegó a su fin y nos fuimos al bar por una cerveza y planear los siguientes días.
El segundo día fuimos a escalar a Siurana. Recorrimos algunos de los sectores más emblemáticos, como El Pati, El Aparador, EL Cargol y La SIuranella Este. Tim pudo escalar todas las vías de primero y pasamos un día genial, lleno de risas y buenos momentos. Al final del día paseamos por el pueblo de Siurana y disfrutamos de las majestuosas vistas.
El tercer día nos dirigimos a Margalef. El sector elegido fue Can Pesafigues, que cuenta con rutas de escalada fáciles, pero también algunas vías de dificultades un poco más elevadas. Fue muy motivante ver a Tim probar vías un poco más difíciles que las que prueba habitualmente y poder encadenarlas con algo de lucha.
El cuarto día decidimos hacer unas prácticas de maniobras de vía larga, ya que al día siguiente iríamos a Montserrat a escalar. Así que nos quedamos por Siurana y pudimos refinar y practicar todas las maniobras necesarias para poder escalar con seguridad al día siguiente.
EL quinto y último día arrancamos temprano. Tim tenía que estar en el aeropuerto a las 3pm para subirse al avión. A las 8:30am estábamos estacionando el coche en el parking de Santa Cecilia en Montserrat. Acomodamos todo el material y salimos a toda marcha rumbo al Cavall Bernat. Esta es una aguja mítica en Catalunya y por eso nuestra elección. Escalaríamos por la vía Punsola Reniu. Un poco más tarde de las 9:30 comenzábamos a escalar. Los primeros largos se hacen rápido. Al llegar al largo de 6b, yo subo primero y aseguro a Tim, que con gran elegancia escala el largo. Queda el 6c+ y un largo fácil para terminar. Vuelvo a subir primero y aseguro a Tim en el 6c+. Este largo le resulta algo más difícil. Es un largo duro y algo pulido, pero Tim logra resolver los movimientos y aunque cae una vez, logra pasar y seguimos de allí hasta la cumbre.
Hacemos las fotos correspondientes y un par de rapeles nos dejan en el sendero que baja por la canal del Cavall. A las 13:20 estamos de vuelta en el coche. Casi que vamos sobrados de tiempo.
Ha sido una semana increíble junto a Tim, muchas risas, charlas largas en el bar después de escalar y buenos momentos compartidos en la pared. Gracias Tim.

In addition, when we were all climbed out for the day, he took the opportunity to show us the beauty of the local areas, playing also a photographer and travel guide. He also went home to let us borrow his guide book to other areas that we were headed to later, and kept in touch to make sure the rest of our trip went smoothly. So nice!
