The Dolomites feature a vast number of climbing routes, including multi-pitch traditional climbs, sport climbing routes, and via ferratas. The routes vary in difficulty, length, and style, catering to climbers of different abilities and preferences.
Looking for climbing routes in the Dolomites in the middle of October, with a slightly unstable weather forecast, we came across this little gem located on the first tower of Sella.
This formation has some beautiful routes, relatively short, ranging from 150 to 200 meters, with quick approaches and descents.
We decided to climb the route "Delenda Carthago," 180 meters, 6b. It's a modern-style route, generously bolted, and perfect for climbing on a cool autumn morning due to its south-facing orientation.
The route is on excellent rock, well-equipped, and a joy to climb. With just a few quickdraws and some cams for the first pitch, you can climb this route.
Approach: 15 minutes
Difficulty: 6b
Length: 180 meters
Gear: 11 quickdraws / some cams for the first pitch
Descent: 30 minutes walking and a 20-meter rappel
It's an excellent route and a great option for a day with unstable and cold weather. Its short approach, well-equipped and rappelable anchors, and quick descent make it ideal for those days when the weather is uncertain.
