Climbing gyms are all the rage.
Over the past five years, dozens of indoor climbing gyms have opened across Spain, following the trend set by other European countries like Germany, Austria, and France.
The number of climbers at indoor gyms keeps growing every day, and climbing's inclusion as an Olympic sport starting with the Tokyo Olympics has only reinforced this growth.
Bouldering and gym sport climbing are on their way to becoming just another urban sport, the same way skateboarding did back in the 80s.
Catalonia is one of the Spanish regions where the most climbing gyms have opened recently. They're an ideal place to get started in climbing, get in shape, learn technique and basic safety maneuvers, and for those who want to, make the jump to climbing on real rock.
We recommend four climbing gyms spread across Catalonia, where you can enjoy good routes and boulders and a great atmosphere.
