Es la segunda vez que visito este pequeño paraíso en el sur de Francia y aún así se siente un poco intimidante y expuesto. Es difícil conseguir alojamiento con un precio decente en La Palud, así que terminamos reservando una casa móvil en Castellane, a unos 25/30 minutos en automóvil del estacionamiento de La Carelle. Y lo logramos. Sólo teníamos tres días de escalada por delante, así que tuvimos que usarlos sabiamente.
Para el primer día decidimos que era mejor elegir algunas rutas "fáciles". Los chicos con los que viajo tienen poca experiencia en la vía larga y además, toca habituarse a la exposición del Verdon. Entonces fuimos por algunas rutas en el Belvedere de la Carelle. Nos dividimos en dos equipos y nos preparamos para rapelar.
Escalar en Verdon implica un compromiso total. Eliges una ruta, rapelas, tiras de la cuerda y luego tienes que poder subir. Si haces la tarea, debes planificar bien y tener croquis de vías alternativas por las cuales subir en caso de que la ruta elegida sea más dura de lo que habías pensado y no puedas pasar.
El primer día fue genial. Escalamos rutas divertidas y disfrutamos de un agradable día al sol.
Al día siguiente fuimos por una ruta un poco más difícil. Hellfest, 7a, 260mts, que era una maravilla. Una de las mejores rutas que he subido aquí hasta ahora. Escalada sostenida sobre roca asombrosa y muy bien protegida. Fue muy divertido
El tercer día fuimos por una ruta que he querido escalar por algún tiempo. Encastete. 7a +, 280mts. Escalamos los dos primeros largos y se puso a llover. Aún nos quedaban tres largos más y decidimos que era mejor bajar. Sin dudas un ruta espectacular. Ya volveremos a hacer esta vía algún día.
El Verdon siempre tiene mucho que ofrecer. Gran cantidad de vías, ambiente y exposición. Uno de los mejores lugares del mundo para escalar tapias.

We did a two-day climbing course in Siurana and Arboli and couldn't be happier. Giordano is one of the best guides I have gone out climbing with, he explains things super well and has something to offer no matter your level.
